3.30.14 - On a Paper Towel

I have this 'deluxe' instant soup -- is that possible? It comes out mysteriously hot and bland at the same time. But the ShiShi on the paper towel pops!

3.29.14 - Over the Shoulder On Three Books

3.29.14
12.35 PM PST

Looking over the ShiShi's shoulder with some living-room included -- on three books. "Hokusai:  Prints and Drawings", "Library of Great Painters: Klee" and "Gothic: Architecture - Sculpture- Painting".

Last night we had an earthquake -- in La Habra -- 5.1. Nice -- it felt like the living room was a mini-van going down a bumpy road with bad shocks for about 35 seconds.

3.28.14 - Concious Exercise

Sometimes I'm going to post the entire piece of paper I draw the ShiShi on -- because this can be interesting in context. I drew this morning at about 7.30 AM. Note says:

"To consciously exercise the will is to consciously practice delusion.

        Mail.
        Call."

BTW -- these ShiShi scans are very funny -- they exhibit some interesting properties and quirks I have never ever encountered before in electronic files. They resist being saved with certain numeric combinations. And also other things.

For instance, with this image, after saving it for the first time, I reopened it in Photoshop --  I tried to make the background whiter, but for whatever reason, the file said it was locked and could not be changed -- and I did not lock the image file -- I never have done this. So there ya go.

ShiShi scans don't like being manhandled or over processed.

Previous ShiShi

I started drawing Shi Shi on 3.11.14 -- here are some from previous days:

3.27.14 - Happy Guy

I like it when the ShiShi of the day is a happy guy. Here ya go. Print him out and give him to someone if you know someone whose luck is down.

Have a great day!

3.26.13 - Moon and a Star

This was drawn today -- I saw the moon in the trees with a small star (Venus) below it at 5.45 AM this morning in the predawn sky.

I was reading a book on Katsushika Hokusai -- one of Japan's most famous artists -- he was renown for the block print. He's probably one of the finest block-printers in the history of art. Even if you don't think you know him, you know him, because his images have been endlessly reproduced. I read starting in 1842 he drew shishi -- Chinese Lion-Dogs  -- one for each day, for a year. Because I have a ceramic shishi -- I decided to do the same. I started on 3.11.14. I'm not feeling unlucky, but why not increase the luck and see what it brings me? Then I can share my good luck with you!
